On the morning of June 16, the Leliu Sub-district Federation of Trade Unions staff cooking contest was held at Guangdong Kaihua Electric Appliance Co., Ltd. Twenty teams of employees from companies and institutions across Leliu took part, in an event co-organized by the Federation and Kaihua.
Each contestant had one hour to prepare a dish, which a panel of five chefs scored on color, aroma and taste. The dishes ranged from showcases of knife skills to slow-steamed, braised and crisp-fried specialties, filling the venue with delicious aromas.
All five judges were well-known local chefs from the Shunde Chefs Association and other professional bodies. Throughout the contest they chatted with participants, offered tips and praised the creativity of the dishes.
After careful judging, first, second and third prizes were awarded, with Kaihua’s own entry winning a third prize. At the award ceremony, the vice president of the Shunde Chefs Association commended the event as an excellent platform for employees to show their cooking talents.
